WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS • You will not have to incur the costs of appointing a new deputy/trustee in the future. When an individual is appointed as a deputy, an application must be made to the court to appoint a new deputy when the individual wishes to retire. This may happen every ten years. • With a Trust Corporation you have guaranteed continuity. The directors may change but this will not result in a court application or any fees charged to you. It is common practice to appoint individual partners as executor or attorney but this carries the risk that those partners will no longer still be at Hodge Jones & Allen when needed. The appointment of the Trust Corporation ensures that Hodge Jones & Allen will act even if the appointment does not come into effect for many decades.
CHRISTINE DYSON Christine is a partner of HJA LLP and head of the Court of Protection & Deputyship. She has acted as professional deputy and trustee since 2007. At present, she manages 40 or more clients under professional Deputyship and Personal Injury Trusts. CHUN WONG Chun is a partner of HJA LLP and head of the HJA Dispute Resolution team. She is the Compliance Office for Legal Practice (COLP) for the firm and a member of the senior management team of HJA LLP. NICOLA WALDMAN Nicola is a partner of HJA LLP and head of the HJA Wills & Probate team. Nicola is a highly experienced executor and trustee and is a recognised expert in this field and a recommended lawyer in Legal 500.
